William "Bill" Raymond Rice was born on January 24, 1950, in Charleston, West Virginia, and passed away on April 11, 2026, in Carmel, Indiana.
Bill served honorably in both the Navy and the Merchant Marines. Following his military service, he contributed meaningfully to the healthcare community through his career at St. Vincent Hospital-Carmel.
A man of varied talents and interests, Bill possessed a unique ability to bring people together. He was a loving stepfather who took pride in building lasting bonds with his stepsons. Together, they crafted a soapbox derby car, an endeavor that highlighted his patience, skill, and the joy he found in shared accomplishments. His craftsmanship extended to furniture-building.
Beyond his work and family life, Bill enjoyed traveling, having explored the vibrant cities of Paris and Amsterdam. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan, particularly passionate about the Chicago Cubs and NASCAR.
Bill is survived by his sister, Barbara Cole; his stepsons, Bradley Baker II (Meridian), Terrence Baker (Andrew), Matthew Baker (Angela), Kyle Baker (Alissa); grandchildren, Alexander, Raya, and Mason; and the love of his life and caregiver, Marilee Rice.
