Valerie J. Rutan, of the Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on May 3, 2024. Born on July 22, 1963, to Earl and Sharon Chandler, Valerie's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and creativity.

Valerie was known for her infectious sense of humor and her ability to light up any room. As an artist, her soul lit up when she painted, creating works that reflected her inner joy and passion. She also enjoyed writing poetry, expressing her thoughts and emotions through words.

A true social butterfly, Valerie loved to laugh and cherished the time she spent with her family. Her playful spirit and zest for life made her one of the best people you could ever meet. Valerie's kind heart and joyful presence left a mark on everyone she encountered.

Valerie dedicated many years of her career to Goodwill, where she made lasting friendships and positively impacted her community.

She is survived by her loving children: Bryan Rutan (Melissa), Vanessa Rutan (Mike), Vicki Haddix (Thomas), and Douglas Rutan. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren: Dylan, Felicity, Alexa, Audrey, Austin, Samuel, Andrew, Robert, Anastasia, and Majesty. Valerie is also survived by her sister, Veronica Chandler; her uncle, Jeff Floyd; her ex-husband, Bryan Rutan (Rebecca); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Earl and Sharon Chandler, and her brother, Ray Chandler.
