Therese Squires, a beloved member of the Indianapolis community, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 4, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication to her family and friends.
Therese was known for her unwavering commitment to her community, volunteering for many church functions at St. Anthony's. Her generous spirit was reflected in her warm and friendly personality, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. She cherished spending time with her family, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Her passions included gardening and baking, where she excelled and found joy. Therese was also an avid reader, and she enjoyed dining out, often sharing meals with loved ones, which fostered deep connections and laughter at the table.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Harry Squires; her daughter, Margaret Shannon Poe; her grandson, Stanley Cooper III; her sister, Laverne Wright; as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Therese was preceded in death by her parents, Mayme and Oie Willoughby; her granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Cooper; her son-in-law, Jerry Poe; and her siblings, Mary Willoughby and Robert Willoughby.
Therese was a beacon of light and kindness in the lives she touched. She will be forever remembered for her love, generosity, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on May 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services located at 1604 W Morris St, Indianapolis, IN 46221. A Mass will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Church, located at 277 North Warman Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46222, starting at 1:30 PM and concluding at 2:30 PM. Finally, a burial will take place at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222, at 2:45 PM. Generations will cherish her memory and the love she shared in her lifetime.
