Theresa Kay Griggs, beloved mother, wife, grandma, and cherished friend, passed away on May 10, 2024, in Markleville, IN, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on February 23, 1953, in Indianapolis, IN.
Theresa dedicated her life to caring for others as an LPN for many years. Her long and fulfilling career included service at Community East Hospital and over 30 years at Community Home Health. Her exceptional commitment to nursing was recognized when she received the prestigious Daisy Award for her incredible work.
Beyond her professional achievements, Theresa will be remembered for the warmth and tranquility she brought to her family. Those closest to her found solace in her presence and enjoyed the peacefulness that emanated from her being.
Described as imperfectly perfect, beautifully chaotic, loud, and always happy, Theresa's vibrant personality left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her strength and positivity were inspiring to those around her.
In her leisure time, Theresa found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for the beach and being around water, finding peace in nature's beauty. Additionally, she never missed an opportunity to attend family events and cherished moments spent dining out with friends.
One of Theresa's proudest accomplishments was overcoming breast cancer twice, demonstrating her resilience and fighting spirit in the face of adversity.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Rick Griggs; children Chad Griggs (Sherry) and Jamie Messer (Sam); grandchildren Megan Griggs (April), Amber McClurg (Jake), Dylan Griggs, Austin Messer, and Shelby Messer; great-grandchildren Daylynn McClurg, Camdon McClurg, and Silas Griggs; siblings Jackie Dean (Tony), Denise Rohn, and David Young (Sandy); nieces and nephews Janelle Saxon, Elysia Rohn, Zach Rohn, DJ Young, and Kip Young; and best friend Donna Hoss.
She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Janice Young; niece Ashley Spangler; and best friend Patty Miller.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 15, 2024, from 2-4pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services - Anderson with a funeral service beginning at 4pm.
