Thelma Ruth Fairfield

Thelma “Ruthie” Medsker Fairfield, 84, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on November 4, 2023.  She was born June 20, 1939, in Indianapolis, IN to the late Floyd and Hazel Helen (Reddick) Medsker. Ruthie attended Manuel High School. She was a meat wrapper for many years at Standard Grocery in Indianapolis.


She is survived by her five children, Connie Miller, Kris Miller, Lori (Larry) Harmon, Stacy Chilton and Danny (Jennie) Jones of Indianapolis; her siblings; Betty Dillard, Randy Medsker, Ronnie Medsker, Charlotte Folkening and Marjorie Medsker of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her siblings Lois, Dorothy, Billy and Bobby.


Ruthie was known for her patience, kindness, fun loving personality, playing cards with family and friends, and her love of fishing. Grandma Ruthie will always be remembered for her famous line, “Well Poop!”


A celebration of life service will be held at Buck Creek Township Community Room (Mt Comfort Airport Firehouse), 5809 Airport Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 on Friday, November 10 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, with service at 6:00PM.
