Steven Bryant Martin

Steven Bryant Martin, 68, of Indianapolis, IN 46226, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Steven was born on May 19, 1958, in Indianapolis, IN, to Myles & Barbara Martin. He graduated from Shortridge High School. Steven then went on to have a fulfilling career with IPS school system, where he worked 38 professional years before retiring from Harshman Middle School in 2024, as the head custodian.

Steven was known for his unwavering kindness and infectious laughter and smile. He never met a stranger. He will be remembered most for the love and affection he had for others, as well as his family and friends. When he was a young adult, he enjoyed skating and dancing. He thought he was the best 2 stepper there was, as he was smoothe with it. Steven made sure he spent time with his loved ones, always ready with a warm hug for the ladies, and a strong handshake for the men. What came next were words of encouragement, or a quiet strength that reminded everyone they could get through anything they put their minds too. His presence will be missed beyond measure, but his love, faith and example he set will live on through the lives of everyone he touched. Steven’s legacy is not only found in the memories held, but in the compassion, resilience, and kindness he showed in all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Martin and his father, Myles Martin; brother, Ernest Wilson; and son, Steven Martin.

Steven is survived by his son, Jeffrey Martin; 3 sisters, Theresa Henry, Charise Prince (Adley), and Shelly Jones (Anthony); cherished friends, Esaw Boyd & Rhonda Gross; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
