Stephen E. Ritchey, 82, Anderson, passed away April 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and daughter.
He was born June 11, 1943, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He retired at the age of 56 in 1999 from Delco-Remy of GM and Delco-Remy America after 34 years of employment. He was a 1961 graduate of Anderson High School and went on to attend the University of Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the Alexandria Elks.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne (Wise), whom he was married to for 36 years. Also surviving are his two sons and daughter, Stephen G. Ritchey, of Santa Cruz, California, Robert P. (wife, Rachel) Ritchey, of Lincoln, California, and Monica (husband, Andrew) Walukonis, of Anderson, Indiana. He is also survived by three brothers, Thomas (partner Kathy Luther) Haggard, of Sarasota, Florida, Gregory (wife, Barbra) Haggard, of Starksboro, Vermont, and Kevin Haggard, of Anderson, Indiana; grandchildren, Joshua Richardson of Poway, California, Saige Buck of Santa Cruz. California, and Daylan Walukonis of Anderson, Indiana; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Phillip Ritchey and Rachel Haggard, a sister Jennifer Haggard, father-in-law, Kenneth Wise, and several aunts and uncles.
Stephen was well known in his early years for his passion for automobiles and motorcycles. A true car enthusiast, he spent time racing at the Muncie Dragstrip. He also took great pride in keeping his home in tip-top shape, along with his yard and continued to remain active well into his later years. Besides getting married in Las Vegas, he and his wife made many trips to the casinos each year and became regulars at the Frontier before being torn down.
Per Stephen’s request, there will not be a service and burial we be in Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Ambassadors for God’s Creatures.
