Stanley Jones was born April 3, 1926 in Windfall, IN. He was the son of Paul & Hester (Messick) Jones, and they moved to Anderson shortly after Stanley was born. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Army Air Force. He was a Sergeant during World War II where he served as a gunner on the B-24.

August 1, 1959, he married Jacqueline Yates. They were married for 53 years before she passed. During their life together, they traveled across the country visiting many states, but their favorite place was Myrtle Beach.

Stanley retired from the Anderson Fire Department after 25 years of service with the highest ranking as a Battalion Chief. He was also a self-employed electrician who liked to brag that he stayed busy when everyone wanted their houses rewired to install air conditioners.

He was a member of St. Matthew’s Church in Anderson, Mount Moriah, Scottish Rite, Murat Temple, Madison County Shrine Club, and the Elks. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and helping with the Shrine Club. The past several years, he greatly enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at McDonalds, spending time with his family, and getting to know his great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Hester Jones; wife, Jacqueline Jones; brother, Paul William Jones; sisters, Mary Lame & Laura Whinston; daughter, Darlene Gosslin; Step Son, Mike Saunders; and grandson, Gregory Jackson.
