Sherman Wagers passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on April 11, 1946, in Hyden, KY, to William Wagers and Nettie Woods Wagers. Sherman moved to the Indianapolis area in the late 70s where he worked as an auto mechanic at Southeastern Auto Parts for the rest of his career.
He will be remembered as a loving and funny uncle who cherished time with his family. Sherman was a talented guitar and harmonica player with a special talent for classic country and bluegrass. Sherman was kind to animals and had a special love for cats. His most cherished memories included opening a beer with friends and enjoying time spent in nature.
Sherman is preceded in passing by his parents, mentioned above; sister-in-law, Deborah Faye Wagers; and nephews, Timmy and Kyle Moorman. His memory will be cherished by his brother, Ray Wagers; nieces, Renee (Ted) Green, Lakeshia (Charles) Wagers, Mariah (Kenny) Moorman, Monica Baker, and Maranda (Antonio) Moorman; nephews, Allen Wagers, William Holloway, Brantley Wagers, and Charles Overbeck; and several great nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, as they remember him through the stories, music, and kindness he left behind.
