Sharon Lee Gross, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and devoted caregiver, passed away on October 23, 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Born Sharon Lee Eacret on January 5, 1945, she was born at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana, and raised in Marion, Indiana, until her family moved to Indianapolis during her teenage years. She attended Manual High School and went on to dedicate her life to caring for others.
On December 10, 1966, Sharon married Denton Dean Gross Sr. Together, they raised five children: Veronica Cook Kays, Bruce Douglas Gross, Gary Gross Sr., Denton Gross Sr., and Kevin Gross. Her family grew to include 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Sharon had a special gift for caring for children. She operated her own daycare for 20 years before working another 10 years at KinderCare, retiring in 2014. To the many children she cared for, she was more than a childcare provider; she was a second mother. Many returned as adults to visit her and thank her for the love and guidance she had given them, a true testament to the lasting impact she made on their lives.
Family was everything to Sharon. For 36 years, she organized and celebrated the family's annual Christmas party, bringing generations together and creating memories that will be treasured for years to come. Her dedication to keeping her family connected was one of the many ways she showed her love.
Sharon is survived by her children Veronica Cook Kays, Denton Gross Sr., and Kevin Gross; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Sheila Eacret Lyda; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel (Hancock) Eacret; her father, William “Wild Bill” Eacret; her brother, Jimmy Eacret; her sons, Bruce Douglas Gross and Gary Gross Sr.; and her beloved grandchild, Garnet Cook.
Sharon will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to children, and the family traditions she worked so hard to preserve. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will live on through the many generations she helped raise and the countless lives she touched.
A burial service will follow at the Gross Family Graveyard in London, Kentucky.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Never forgotten.
