Sharlan "Sherry" Kay Cox

Sharlan Kay Cox, age 80, of Anderson, passed away on January 12, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 8, 1942, to George Johnson and Rachel Boyer.

To friends and family, she was Sherry. Sherry held many jobs throughout life. Some being in the Anderson Newspaper mail room, and as the phone operator for the public taxi system. Sherry was the true queen of her family, running the show and making sure everyone’s needs were met. She could be stubborn, but she was extremely loving, kind, and caring. She enjoyed watching sports and game shows. She was a wonderful mom, grandma, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sherry is survived by her children William Cox, Pamela Backman, Jamie Cox, and Brad Cox (Nicale Rector); grandchildren Stacey Hankins, Ryan Stevenson (Marjory), Rodney Stevenson (Andra), Jessica Humerickhouse, Justin Cox, Taylor Anderson, and Drew Cox; great-grandchildren Quentin, Jimmy Neil, Brayden, Brody, Bryce, Blake, and Chandler; siblings Raymond Johnson (Barbara), Fay Haimrel (John), Bob Boyer (Carol), and Frances Barnes; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father George Johnson, mother and stepfather Rachel and Carl Boyer, sister Rebecca House, brother Jackie Johnson, niece Kelly Johnson, nephew Donald House, and nephew Timmy House.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2022, from 12-2pm with a funeral service beginning at 2pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Burial will take place at Grove Lawn Cemetery in Pendleton, IN.
