Sarah Lee Johnson, 80, of Anderson, passed away on May 10, 2022, at her home surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was born on March 26, 1942, in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1960.
Sarah was the most kind, gentle, caring, and forgiving wife that God ever made. She and her husband of 27 years shared a profound love for one another. Together they enjoyed their church family, traveling, Victorian décor, and antiquing among many other shared adventures. Both considered every day of their marriage a gift from God to be treasured.
Sarah also had a deep, abiding love for Jesus, whom she often referred to as “His Darling Son,” and avidly studied the Bible. She enjoyed writing scripture cards to share with family and friends to encourage them in God’s Word, which are precious keepsakes for those who loved her. Sarah went to be with the Lord on the 4-year anniversary of the day He completely showed her what it meant to be in Christ. She was looking forward to being Wed to Him. She requested to wear white as a symbol of her Eternal union as the Bride of Christ without spot or wrinkle, clothed in the Garment of Christ.
Sarah is survived by her husband, James Johnson; sister, Hester Morris; children, Karen (Brian) Paulsrud, John (Susan) Moffett, Katherine (Thomas) Grossmann, and Jennifer (Michael) Saxon; stepdaughter, Jenny Kellams; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved sister in Christ, Cora Perry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Geneva Bohley; siblings, Joseph Bohley, Mary Westfall, and Elizabeth Sherer; and stepson, Douglas Johnson.
