Sara Elisabeth (Leas) Pellot

May 13, 1961 — May 7, 2022

Indianapolis, Indiana

Sara Elisabeth (Leas) Pellot, of Ft. Wayne, IN, born on May 13, 1961 to the late Blaine and Gertrude (Winkleman) Leas passed away peacefully on the beautiful Saturday morning of May 7th, 2022. She was surrounded by family as she took her journey to be with Jesus Christ. Sara attended South Side High School. She had a long-standing career in the hospitality industry as well as 15 years working as a receptionist at Fort Wayne Pediatrics.

Sara is survived by her son, Josh Pellot; daughter, Maggie (Alex) Curry; step-daughters, Charlene Hogan and Nancy (Rob) Bilderback; grandchildren, Brandon, Dakota, Trevor, Cosette, Simone, Charlie, and William; Siblings, Patricia (Jim) Gebhart, Anita (Tom) Tracy, Marianne Duffey, and Matt Leas. Sara had two passions in life, motorcycles and family. The feeling of the open road resembled her daring attitude, adventurous smile, and free spirit. Later in life, as she was presented with the gift of grandchildren, everything took a back seat to family. “Family is God and God is Family” she wrote in her journal. In Sara’s eyes there were no “step-children”, “in-laws”, or “third cousins” … there was just family. Her laughter and silliness flowed through every family gathering she ever graced and afterwards there was only one feeling… Gratitude. That is what we are left with now…Gratitude. Thank you for being a ray of positivity. Thank you for showing us all that it is ok to grow from mistakes. Thank you for showing us how to be kind when we know there are dark days ahead. Sara showed unmatched bravery and resilience in her three year battle with cancer. She stayed positive until the very end and so will we. Thank you, Sara.

Sara took her grandchildren horseback riding here. Although this is not the stable she volunteered for (apologize I cannot locate them) she did that for some time when she could no longer work and it was incredibly therapeutic for her.
