Santa Adoración Carvajal Maldonado, 63, of McCordsville, Indiana, passed away on February 24, 2026.

She was born in Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and in 1984 made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States to build a better life for herself and her children. That decision reflected who she was at her core; strong, selfless, and deeply devoted to her family.

In the 1980s, Santa began her journey in the U.S., as being employed by affluent families in Louisiana as a live in housekeeper and nanny, taking care of their homes and children, all with only knowing a few works of English. By the late 1990s, she was provided with the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She poured her heart into raising her children, always coming to their school events and sometimes even making their Halloween costumes. She always found a way to make her children’s childhoods memorable. Later, she followed her passion for working with children as she reentered the workforce by working in daycares, where she not only cared for little ones but lovingly cooked meals for them and proudly taught them Spanish, sharing her culture and heritage.

She went on to work for over 10 years in the restaurant and entertainment business at Pinheads, a place she truly loved and took great pride in working at. She worked in the kitchen as a cook and loved every bit of it. She would play music while she was in the kitchen, creating a fun environment and encouraging everyone who walked past to dance. She cherished the friendships she built there. She was also able to have three of her four children employed during her time there, and cherished working alongside them.

Santa faced many personal and health hardships throughout her life, yet she met every challenge with resilience and faith. Her battle with liver cirrhosis was her final fight, and she faced it with the same strength and courage that defined her life. She was a strong, independent woman (who in fact did not need no man), and her love for Jesus was unwavering.

Above all, Santa was a devoted and loving mother and an incredibly involved grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her beloved children: Oscar Serrato, Christi Carvajal, Jessica Carvajal, and Jairo Carvajal; her cherished grandchildren, Eli Granados and Mylo Rivera Carvajal; and her loving sisters, Malu Maldonado and Maricela Maldonado; and several family members and loved ones in Mexico. Her love, guidance, and strength will continue to live on through them.

Santa will be remembered for her warmth, her resilience, her deep faith, and the way she cared for others so selflessly. Her life was one of sacrifice, love, and devotion. A legacy that will never be forgotten.

A viewing will be held on March 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with a service from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services 5215 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46226.

Though she is no longer with us in body, we find peace in knowing she rests in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.

Nació en Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, México, y en 1984 tomó la valiente decisión de emigrar a los Estados Unidos para construir una vida mejor para ella y sus hijos. Esa decisión reflejó quién era en esencia: fuerte, generosa y profundamente entregada a su familia.

En la década de 1980, Santa comenzó su trayectoria en los Estados Unidos trabajando para familias adineradas en Louisiana como empleada doméstica y niñera interna, cuidando sus hogares y a sus hijos, todo ello sabiendo apenas unas pocas palabras en inglés. A finales de la década de 1990, tuvo la oportunidad de dedicarse por completo a ser madre y ama de casa. Entregó su corazón a la crianza de sus hijos, asistiendo siempre a sus eventos escolares e incluso elaborando en ocasiones sus disfraces de Halloween. Siempre encontraba la manera de hacer memorables las infancias de sus hijos.

Más adelante, siguió su pasión por trabajar con niños y regresó al ámbito laboral en guarderías, donde no solo cuidaba a los pequeños, sino que también les preparaba comidas con cariño y les enseñaba español con orgullo, compartiendo su cultura y herencia.

Trabajó por más de 10 años en el negocio de restaurantes y entretenimiento en Pinheads, un lugar que realmente amaba y donde se sentía orgullosa de trabajar. Se desempeñó en la cocina como cocinera y disfrutaba cada momento. Ponía música mientras trabajaba, creando un ambiente alegre y animando a todos los que pasaban a bailar. Valoraba profundamente las amistades que formó allí. Además, tuvo la dicha de trabajar junto a tres de sus cuatro hijos durante ese tiempo, algo que atesoraba enormemente.

Santa enfrentó muchas dificultades personales y de salud a lo largo de su vida, pero cada desafío lo enfrentó con resiliencia y fe. Su batalla contra la cirrosis hepática fue su última lucha, y la afrontó con la misma fortaleza y valentía que definieron su vida. Fue una mujer fuerte e independiente (que de hecho no necesitaba de ningún hombre), y su amor por Jesús fue inquebrantable.

Por encima de todo, Santa fue una madre devota y amorosa, y una abuela profundamente involucrada en la vida de sus nietos. Su mayor alegría fue su familia. Deja a sus amados hijos: Oscar Serrato, Christi Carvajal, Jessica Carvajal y Jairo Carvajal; a sus queridos nietos: Eli Granados y Mylo Rivera Carvajal; a sus hermanas: Malu Maldonado y Maricela Maldonado; así como a varios familiares y seres queridos en México. Su amor, guía y fortaleza vivirán a través de ellos.

Santa será recordada por su calidez, su resiliencia, su profunda fe y la manera tan desinteresada en que cuidaba de los demás. Su vida fue una de sacrificio, amor y entrega. Un legado que nunca será olvidado.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el 6 de marzo de 2026 a la 1:00 p.m., seguido de un servicio de 2:00 p.m. a 3:30 p.m. en Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46226.
