Sandra Kay Darling

Sandra Kay Darling, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her close family on February 15, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born in Indianapolis on July 17, 1941, the daughter of Edgar and Dorothy Wotring.

Sandi graduated from Warren Central High School in 1959. She was an optician by trade for many years. She was an active supporter of her kids and grandchildren’s sports, music activities, and health support organizations.  She was also a supporter of animal shelters and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She could often be seen cheering on her grandchildren at youth baseball games, gymnastics meets, volleyball tournaments, football and basketball games, and band concerts, and was known by all as “Grandma Darling”. She never met someone she didn’t take an interest in, and she was considered a “Second Mom” by many.

Sandi is survived by her son Kevin Darling (Carol), daughter Angela Hoess (Frank), sister Judy Mickle, granddaughters Sarah Hoess, Heidi Hoess, Kristin Darling, Anna Darling, grandson Sam Darling and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Dorothy Wotring, Uncle Hubert Slifer, brother Ed Wotring and brother-in-law Pete Mickle.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024, at 1PM at Geist Christian Church – Fishers 12756 Promise Rd, Fishers, IN 46038, with a reception immediately following at the home of Kevin and Carol Darling.
