Ruby Marie (Brundridge, Villines) Cook, age 95, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Born on April 7, 1930, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Ruby was one of nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her husbands Archie Villines & Clarence “Tucker” Cook, five brothers and three sisters, as well as her beloved son Leonard.
She leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward her memory: her daughter Lila Jourdan; granddaughter Amanda (Chris) Carreiro great-grandchildren Tristan & Kyla, granddaughter Alysia (Ethan) Banton great-grandchildren Logan (Katlyn) & Paige Mallette, Austin Banton, granddaughter Angela (Stephen) Kirk great-grandchildren Destiny Richard, Dante & Dominic McConnell, Topanga Kirk, grandson Jason (Jessica) Villines great-grandchildren Savannah & Noah, grandson Brian (Abby) Villines great-grandchild Flint, grandson Nathan Villines great-grandchildren Belle & Reighn, stepdaughter Catherine (Ronnie) Sheffield, stepson Clearance Albert Cook Jr. (Pat). Each of them carries a piece of Ruby’s legacy—whether through a handmade quilt passed down through the years or memories of time spent together around her table.
Ruby had a deep love for the domestic arts and found joy in quilting, crafts, cooking, and ceramics. Her hands were rarely still—whether stitching intricate quilts that warmed generations or shaping clay into cherished keepsakes. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals, a testament to her nurturing spirit and culinary skill. Ruby enjoyed challenging her mind and keeping sharp with word searches.
Ruby’s long life was marked by strength and enduring love. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. There will be a Memorial Celebration from 10am to 12pm and Memorial Service at noon on February 28, 2026, at Lawrence United Methodist Church 5200 N Shadeland Ave.
