Rosario Rios Vela, Sr.

Rosario Rios Vela Sr, age 65, of Lockney Texas, passed away at home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on Wednesday August 6, 1958. Rosario was a very skilled individual, known for his expertise as a drywall finisher. However his true passion lied in fixing things, especially vehicles. He took great pride in being a backyard mechanic.  Rosario truly enjoyed blues music & cherished his family above all else. 
 
 Rosario is survived by his ex-wife, Debra Bartley, and their 5 children: Guadalupe Wallace (Charles Wallace), Rosario Vela Jr, Isabel Fisher, Guillermo Vela and Victoria Swails (James Swails). He is also survived by his brother, Willie Vela & sister Julia Royer, as well as 10 grandchildren; Audrie & Gloria Wallace, Gabriel Vela, Brianna & RJ Smith, Maria Yelton, Alivia, Alycia & Miguel Vela & Beau Swails as well as 2 great grandchildren & many nieces and nephews. 
 
 He was preceded in death by his father,  Felipe Vela, his mother, Guadalupe Vela, 2 sisters, Leonor Martinez & Patricia Craney, and his brother, Juan Lopez. 
 
 A ceremony to celebrate Rosario's life will be held at Legacy Funeral Home at 1604 W Morris St, Indianapolis, IN 46221, on Friday,  February 2, 2024, from 2:30p-4:30p. Following the service,  a dinner will be held at Calvary Christian School located at 3639 Keystone Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Cremation to follow, a celebration to spread his ashes will occur Memorial Weekend.
