Ronald Bannon, 97, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born on November 14, 1928, in Anderson, Indiana, to Everett and Geneva Bannon. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1946 and went on to proudly serve his country as a Master Sergeant in the Army National Guard. Following his military service, Ronald built a long and dedicated career at Delco Remy, where he worked as a Work Standards Engineer until his retirement after 41 years of service.

Ronald met the love of his life, Linda, at a dentist’s office, beginning a beautiful love story that would last a lifetime. They were married on April 20, 1956, and remained faithfully devoted to one another for more than 60 years while raising their six children together.

He was a member of the Dolphin Club and Bethany Christian Church. In his free time, Ronald enjoyed bowling in a league and spending weekends dancing with Linda at the Alexandria Eagle Club #1771, where they were members. Ronald was man of order who always knew the rules and enforced them. He was also known as an outstanding euchre player — often described as unbeatable. He had the mind of a human calculator. He took great responsibility for his family and never complained. After losing his sight he spent his days singing songs and enjoying his favorite treat — delicious sugar cream pie.

Ronald is survived by his children, Susie (Jim) Smith, Joseph Bannon, Sandy Blaylock, Ronald “Guy” Bannon; beloved bonus son, Key Bannon-Johnson; niece Molly (Robert) Guerena; grandchildren Steven “Ace” (Megan) Bannon, Jordan (April) Bannon, Anna (Jon) Xanders, Brandon Blaylock, Zachary Blaylock, Tyler Bannon, Ryan Bannon, Christopher Bannon, Luke Bannon, and Joanna Bannon; and several great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Linda Bannon; his parents and grandparents; brother, Richard Bannon; sons, Steven Douglas Bannon and John Patrick Bannon; daughter-in-law, Diane Bannon; grandsons, Steven Bannon and Kyle Bannon; and niece Cindy Warner.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services with Pastor Susan Hunt Jones officiating. A graveside service at Anderson Memorial Park will follow.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Vincent Ascension, Dr. Caitlin Harmon, Dr. Ney, Dr. Boucher, and all others who provided compassionate care.

Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His steady presence, unwavering devotion to his family, and joyful spirit will live on in the stories shared around card tables, on dance floors, and in the everyday routines he held dear.
