Pendleton, IN

Ronald Alan Young, 51, of Pendleton, passed away at Methodist hospital on June 1, 2022, after a lifelong illness with Cystic Fibrosis.

Ronnie had many passions in life such as music, his career & golf. He was a very talented guitarist & singer. He enjoyed playing music for Fall Creek Christian Church and Pendleton Christian Church during Sunday morning worship services. Ronnie played many gigs in his time. In 1999, Ronnie and his band, Young & Sharp, won a country music contest held by the Bear radio station, 93.9 FM, in Indianapolis. The contest allowed him & his band to open for nationally known country music stars such as Ty Herndon, Montgomery/Gentry, Shedaisy, Terry Clark, and a guy named Kenny Chesney (before he was famous).

Also, Ronnie was passionate about his career choice as a Respiratory Therapist. He desired to help others that were battling Cystic Fibrosis. During his career, he worked at Methodist Hospital, Riley Children’s Hospital, Community Health Network, St. Vincent of Indianapolis & St. Vincent of Anderson. In the past year, Ronnie had the opportunity to take a couple travel assignments to Florida. Fortunately, this allowed him to have time to enjoy many rounds of golf during this past year.

Ronnie is survived by his parents, John Young of New Castle & Elizabeth Young of Pendleton. His siblings, Lesley (Donnie) Bennet of Anderson & Donny (Melissa) Young of Pendleton, step sister Sandy (Mark) Ridenour, stepbrother Tony Roberts. Nieces & nephews, Nicholas (Tyfney) Bennett, Cameron Bennett, Patrick Bennett, Alexis Young & Braxton Young. He is also survived by great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and special family friends Jerry Swinford, Wes Cooper, Rick Batie, and the Sellers family.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Jay Young, who also passed away from Cystic Fibrosis in 1993, at the age of 30. Also, his stepbrother Ricky Roberts & stepmother Faye Young.

A memorial service will be held June 13, 2022, at 3:30 PM, at Fall Creek Christian Church in Pendleton located at 1102 W. County Road 700 South. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 5:00 PM, at The Crystal Coop Event Center located at 3400 W. 53rd St. in Anderson
