Robert Herman Ankenbrock

Robert Herman Ankenbrock was born on February 28, 1930 , at home on 22 N. Ridgelawn Drive. He was delivered by his uncle, who was a doctor. He was the youngest child born to John Herman Ankenbrock and Elizabeth Walle Ankenbrock. He attended Lady of Lourdes Elementary School with his best friend Ed Shaughnessy before attending Cathedral High School, Class of 1948. Robert passed away on July 2, 2025, in his home . 

After high school, Robert entered the Army and completed his basic training in Las Vegas followed by a move to Presidio in San Francisco

 His career took him into banking after his military service. It was at this time he met his wife, Kathy. The pair married on July 16, 1960. They welcomed their daughter in September of 1961. He worked for the Center Township’s Assessor’s office and Stewart Tile until retirement in 1999. He began selling tickets for the Indiana Pacers in 1967 with their second game ever and worked until 2013. Purdue and Pacers basketball was a mainstay throughout his life. He loved to keep his lawn meticulous, travel, and take photos.

 Robert is survived by his daughter, Kimberly A. Hendricks.; grandchildren, Alicia L. Land, Ryan C. Arthur, and Brian A. Hendricks; great grandchildren, Allyson Land, Wyatt Land, Jack Land, Brayden Hendricks, and Ava Hendricks, along with many nieces and nephews. And preceded in death by his parents: John and Eilzabeth Ankenbrock, his brother, Charles Ankenbrock and sister, Helen Short . 

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service that will begin at 12:00PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services—Lawrence at 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46226.
