Rita Zettel Harris

Rita Zettel Harris, 63, of Alexandria, passed away on November 10, 2022 of pneumonia. She was born on October 27, 1959 in Anderson to James Leo and Georgeanna (Coyle) Zettel. Rita graduated from Alexandria Monroe High School in 1978.

Rita had many jobs in life, but her favorite job was being a bartender. She had worked at Tillies Icon, Alexandria Eagles 1771 and Alexandria Elks 478. She loved being around her family, friends, and pets, Geet and Sally. Rita was a 45 year member of the Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary 1771. Mom would love it if we were all kind to each other in her memory.

She is preceded in death by parents James Leo and Georgeanna Ruth Zettel, a brother-in-law, Joe Kirk, and ex-husband, Gary T. Gillespie, the father of her son.

Rita is survived by her boyfriend, Greg Bristow, her son and daughter-in -law, Luke and Brandy (Pierce) Gillespie, her sisters, Jan (Tom) Urban, Rosanna (John) Scholl and Mary (Tom) Jefferson, her grandchildren, Leo Thomas Gillespie, Spencer James Gillespie, and Adeline May Gillespie. Her niece Jenny (Brad) DiRuzza and nephews, Jeff (Lisa) Urban, Andy (Kelly) Scholl, Ben (Jen) Scholl and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Alexandria Eagles 1771 on Friday November 18, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm. Cremation arrangements have been provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services of Anderson.
