Richard Phillip Ripberger, 71, entered his heavenly home on December 8, 2025 Born in New Castle, Indiana and raised in Anderson, Indiana, Richard was one of nine children. He attended 10th Street Elementary, Northside Middle School, and graduated from Anderson High School.
Richard married, started his family, and spent many years working in construction and roofing. His hands built countless things over the years, but his proudest work was the life he created with his loved ones. After retiring, he continued doing what he loved through his woodworking business—staying active, creative, and always moving.
He was happiest outdoors: tending his garden, caring for his chickens, tinkering with projects. He loved his kids and grandkids, his dog(s) Max, his truck and his wife he loved absolutely doted on. Richard was a marvelous cook and never met a stranger. He shared extra vegetables with neighbors, and greeted folks with kindness and a story. He had an incredible memory for people and loved retelling tales from his past, local history, and family adventures.
A soft-hearted man who loved Jesus, Richard enjoyed hillbilly music, RFD TV, and a cigar. He was an all-around good guy—dependable, generous, and deeply family-oriented. He attended Anderson First Church of the Nazarene and lived out his faith through the way he cared for others.
Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane; children Rebecca (Ray) Cheatman, Renee (Jack) Fitzgerald, Richard Ripberger II, and Robin Ripberger; stepchildren Darin (Shelia) Albright, Debra (Ronald) McGrady, and Stephanie (Kevin) Scott; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; his sister Sue Chambers; his brother Ronald Ripberger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Delcie Ripberger; brothers Mark, David, Tommy, and Bobby Ripberger; and sisters Jean Ann McCubbins and Margaret Stinnett.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and generosity. His memory will be cherished by all who were blessed to know him.
