Richard L. Aldrich, 71, of Greenfield, IN, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2021. Rick is survived by his Valentine’s bride of 51 years Kathryn R. (Israel) Aldrich and his four daughters; Sandra (Skyler) Rentmeesters, Jacquelyn Black, Rebecca (Calvin) Wilburn, and Patricia Witt; as well as 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren; his sister Roberta Johnson and his brother John (Judy) Aldrich.
Richard graduated from Arlington High School in 1967 and later went on to co-own the family business, Community Hardware until 1999. He also worked at Builder’s Hardware in Shelbyville and Ace Hardware in Carmel. He was involved in the Sahara Grotto as Past Monarch, Clowns and Revelers; Cumberland Job’s Daughters as Associate Guardian; Englewood DeMolay as Chapter Dad and Master Councilor; 20-year member of Mt. Comfort Church and Sonshine Kids. He was a member of Michigan Antique Phonograph Society (M.A.P.S.) and Hoosier Antique Phonograph Society (H.A.P.S.); Hancock County Historical Society; and Riley Old Home Society. He enjoyed camping, antiquing, fishing, and his grandkids.
He will be remembered as a lovingly devoted family man that was a respected and knowledgeable businessman. He was also known for his kindness and patience.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marietta (Machlan) Aldrich; and siblings Francis Aldrich, David Aldrich, and LaVerne Finch.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Buck Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 5809 Airport Blvd., Greenfield, IN 46140 or Mt. Comfort Church, 3179 N. 600 W., Greenfield, IN 46140.
A celebration of life with Masonic Services and Past Monarch’s Services will be held
on June 19, 2021 at 2:00 P. M. The location will be at Sahara Grotto, 7620 Madison Ave. Indpls., IN 46227.
