Richard Douglas “Dick” Brown, age 81, of Noblesville, went home to his Lord and savior on October 17th, 2025. He was born December 30th, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Gerald L. Brown & Catherine (Brown) Brown.
In addition to Minnesota, Dick lived in several states growing up including Colorado, Texas, Florida, Washington and Idaho. His family moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and he graduated from North Side High School in 1961. He continued his education at Purdue University and eventually earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1971 from Indiana University School of Dentistry, but that did not prevent him from being a loyal Boilermaker. He started his own dental practice in Ligonier, Indiana (which he affectionately called “God’s Country”). For five decades he served his patients with great care and precision. He taught himself Spanish, aided by watching telenovelas, and Pennsylvania Dutch to better communicate with his patients.
Dick was married to his beloved wife Joyce for 30 years. They experienced many adventures together including sailing, flying their own airplane and traveling on their Harley. They enjoyed supporting their grandchildren by watching countless sporting events across the country. They could always be found side by side reading their morning devotionals.
In addition to Joyce, Dick is survived by his children: Wallace (Stephanie) BrownPete (Lisa) BrownJami (Tom) JuhnkeTodd Richard BrownGabe (Carrie Rector) RennerMandy (David) MaxwellAlso 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition Dick is survived by his 4 brothers:Jim (Irene) BrownBill (Suzette) BrownTom (Sharon) BrownJerry Brown.
Dick’s life was guided by faith, a love of learning and a spirit of gratitude. He always found the cup half full (hopefully of wine) and beside a good book. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of family and fellowship. Dick lovingly named their home Casi Cielo (Almost Heaven) and has now arrived in Cielo (Heaven). Even in his final days when words were fewer, he recited one of his favorite verses, Psalm 46:10 - “Be still and know that I am God.” He is at home in heaven and God is his refuge.
May we all carry on his legacy with a heart for joyful adventure, quick forgiveness, purpose-driven faith and love with the strength of a three chord bond, not easily broken.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later time at New Life Fellowship in Topeka, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Richard Brown to:
