Indianapolis

Raymond was a devoted husband and father, a beloved grandfather and brother. He loved all his family and friends, meeting them always with a hug and infectious laugh. Strengthened by prayer, his life exemplified faith, hope, and charity, as he loved and trusted in the Lord.

Raymond Lipscomb’s race began August 28, 1950, in Indianapolis Indiana when parents, Nathaniel and Zelma Lyle Lipscomb welcomed him into the world. Growing up in Indianapolis, he attended public school. While a student at Shortridge High, he left school to provide family support.

Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. At an early age, Raymond accepted Christ and became a member of Greater Saint Mark Baptist Church. After returning to Indianapolis, he joined Carter Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where he loved praising the lord.

His many skills let him to a genre of jobs. For several years, he enjoyed working as a butcher at Kroger Grocery Store. Later he joined the restaurant field and was employed at Butler. There he met and fell in love with his adoring wife, Carol Nicholas. Together, they found joy in each other’s company and embarked on many adventures. For thirty-eight years, Carol shared an enduring love with her husband. A son, Noah, was born into this union. Raymond retired in 2017, after thirty-one years of service with Avis Car Rental and returned home to Indiana.

He finished his race well and saw his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on February 29, 2024. Preceding him in death are his parents; sons, Dwayne Lipscomb and Raymond Lipscomb Jr.; sisters, Daisy Lee Morrow, Marlene Mills, and Margaret Brooks.
