Ray Gentry Miles

Ray Gentry Miles, of Anderson, IN, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2023. He was born on May 12, 1962, to Rayburn Miles and Charlene Jones. Ray was a hardworking and dedicated individual throughout his life.

In his professional career, Ray wore many hats. He was a skilled mechanic and handyman who had an unwavering love for working on cars. His passion for his craft led him to become a successful salesman in the construction industry for several years. Ray's dedication to his career was fueled by his desire to provide for his family.

Ray was not only a devoted father but also an exceptional teacher to his daughter Courtney. He patiently taught her how to roller skate, swim, and tie her shoes. His love for Courtney knew no bounds, as he always put her needs above his own. Despite being behind the camera capturing precious moments of others, Ray never sought the spotlight for himself.

An outgoing and friendly individual, Ray had a unique ability to lighten the mood with his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed taunting and joking with his family, bringing laughter and joy into their lives. Ray had a genuine affection for dogs and adored his granddoggies dearly.

Being a movie buff brought Ray immense pleasure. He would often indulge in films that allowed him to escape reality momentarily. Alongside his personal pursuits and passions, Ray remained steadfast in supporting family and friends whenever they needed assistance. In fact, after experiencing challenging times himself, he dedicated much of his free time to charitable work with organizations aiding the homeless.

Born and raised in Anderson, IN, it is where Ray's journey began and unexpectedly came to an end as well.

Apart from his parents, Ray leaves behind a cherished legacy carried on through his daughter Courtney Miles (her partner Jenny). His memory will forever be treasured by his brothers Keith Rapier (wife Terry) and Kevin Rapier, as well as his sisters Leslie Miles, Tina Crews (husband Richard), Rebecca Haniford (husband Breck), and Brandy Rollins. Additionally, Ray will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, along with numerous aunts and uncles.

Ray Gentry Miles was an exceptional man who touched the lives of many. His work ethic, dedication to family, and willingness to help others stand as a testament to his character. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and cherished memories.

In honor of Ray's memory, the family kindly requests donations to be made to charities supporting homelessness, embracing his spirit of compassion and community involvement. May he rest in eternal peace.A visitation will be held on Friday November 10, 2023 from 1-3pm with a funeral service beginning at 3pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service - Anderson.
