Randy J. Spangler, a dedicated and beloved member of the Indianapolis community, passed away on May 11, 2026, in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on April 13, 1962, Randy led a life marked by hard work, warmth, and a steadfast devotion to his family and friends.
Randy’s career began behind the wheel of a semi-tractor trailer, where he shared the experience of the road with his children, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His skill and precision then led him to become an exceptionally talented crane operator for Zore’s. Known for his remarkable ability to maneuver his crane with finesse, Randy could effortlessly lift objects ranging from the size of a basketball to as large as a car. One memorable story tells of him lifting a casket from a load of scrap metal, humorously declaring that it would be the one in which he wished to be buried.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randy was cherished for his kind and caring nature. He had a genuine love for children and treasured family gatherings where laughter and joy were plentiful. His friends remember him fondly for his infectious sense of humor and his fondness for sharing jokes. Randy’s work ethic was unparalleled; he continued to work diligently until illness prevented him from climbing into his crane.
After long days at work, Randy found comfort in relaxing moments shared with his close friends. Whether at Mike’s Speedway Lounge, the VFW Post 1587, or the Legion, he enjoyed good company, laughter, and a glass of Royal Crown Apple—a simple pleasure that spoke to his down-to-earth and convivial spirit.
Randy is survived by his loving children: Randy Spangler, Jr., Stacy Sandoval, and Justin Spangler, along with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He also leaves behind his devoted siblings: Kathy Wagner, Steve Spangler, Mark Spangler, and Tommy Spangler. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mary Spangler, as well as seven siblings.
A visitation to honor Randy’s life will be held on June 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 1604 W Morris St, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Following the visitation, interment will take place at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Randy J. Spangler’s life was a testament to dedication, laughter, and love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know him.
