Peter Francis McEvoy

Peter Francis McEvoy, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 9, 2023. He was born on June 4, 1932, in Bronx, NY, to the late Michael and Johanna (Henessey) McEvoy, who were proud Irish immigrants and Roman Catholics.  Peter graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx, NY, and completed some business courses at Columbia University in Manhattan.  He joined the Army and proudly served during the Korean War as a Quarter Master.  Peter worked as a postal carrier, walking his own route every day in Westchester County, NY, until retiring in 1991.  When Peter’s wife passed away in 2009, he moved to Indiana to stay with his son, Peter John. 

Peter is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; along with his wife, Evelyn M. McEvoy (née Loucater) who passed away on June 20, 2009; and brothers, Michael “Mickey” McEvoy and Robert Vincent McEvoy.  He is survived by his son, Peter John McEvoy (Alma); grandson, Christopher Michael McEvoy; and brother, John Christopher McEvoy.

Visitation will be from 11am to 12pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a service to start at 12pm.  Military Honors and graveside service to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
