Peter McCoy

Peter Matthew McCoy, 64, passed away on June 13, 2024, at IU Hospital North. He was born in 1959 in New Whiteland, IN to Bettey Jo (Pickering) and James McCoy. He graduated from Manual High School, attended Lincoln Technical Institute, and took multiple computer courses. He worked in several different occupational fields but ended in the automotive industry.

Pete’s passion for cars, sci-fi, and his children was evident in everything he did. He spent countless hours working on his and others’ cars and collecting sci-fi action figures and memorabilia. He was always happy to have a conversation that involved Star Wars or Star Trek. He also spent years coaching, umpiring, and attending his kids' softball games. 

Pete had 4 children, Caleb McCoy, Madisen McCoy, Hailey McCoy, and Jordan Mendel. He also had one grandson, Andrew. He was extremely proud of his children. He spoke of them constantly and was always smiling when introducing them to new people. 

Pete was known for his strong work ethic, and his stubbornness. He lived his life the way he saw fit and was not afraid to stand his ground. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.

Visitation will be held at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services- Lawrence on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 9AM with a memorial service to follow at 10AM. His final resting place will be at Washington Park East Cemetery where friends and family are invited to gather for a final farewell.
