Peggy Baker

June 21, 1946 — May 8, 2024

Obituary:

Peggy Baker, 77, passed away on May 8, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on June 21, 1946, in the picturesque setting of Brown County State Park, Indiana, to the late Charles and Geneva (Petro) Bradley.

Peggy, who was a homemaker, will always be cherished for her exceptional culinary skills; she was renowned for her delectable homemade noodles which were a highlight of family gatherings. Her holiday tradition of making candies and generously sharing them with loved ones will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of tasting her creations.

A social butterfly, Peggy never met a stranger and had a deep love for her family and friends, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. Her warm and welcoming nature endeared her to all who crossed her path.

In addition to being a talented cook, Peggy had diverse interests that added color to her life. She found joy in traveling, particularly relishing trips to Brown County during the vibrant fall season and embarking on spooky adventures with her sisters to Boston and Salem, Massachusetts, around Halloween. Despite not being a swimmer, she found solace in the calming presence of the beach and enjoyed visits to Florida, Arizona, and California. When she was "Back Home Again in Indiana" Peggy enjoyed going to garage sales where she often found treasures among the various items for sale. Additionally, she was an avid fan of country music, particularly music from yesteryear, in which Peggy found comfort in the melodies of Reba McEntire and George Strait, as well as other artists.

Among Peggy's proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life.

Peggy is survived by her son, Don Garner; and her daughters, Diane Garner and Jennifer Hart; her brother, Gary (Sara) Bradley; and the joys of Peggy's life, her grandchildren: Matthew, Corey, Caleb (Francis), Mary, and Charli Ann. Others left to cherish her memory are her "bonus daughter," Natalie, and "bonus grandchildren," Richard, Jay, and Jacquie.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bradley and her mother, Geneva Petro; and her siblings: Billy Bradley, Linda Fox, and Betty McKinney.
