Pamela Jean Shumaker, better known to friends and family as "PJ," was born on December 6, 1982, and departed from this world on July 8, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a beacon of warmth and friendliness to those with whom she was close, known for her child-like playfulness and her joyous spirit. As she grew older Pamela became more reserved, but she still found joy and a unique desire to dance in the rain, embodying a zest for life that brought happiness to herself and those around her.
Pamela cherished spending time with her family and friends, creating countless memories that will forever be treasured. Her passion for arts and crafts started with her children and extended to her beloved nieces and nephews, bringing creativity and joy to their lives. She delighted in collecting crystals and found peace in taking walks while listening to music. But she didn't just listen to music while walking, PJ loved music - all types of music - from rock to pop to country and western, and she listened to music all day long and into the night. Pamela loved the simple pleasures of life, often playing in the rain, twirling and splashing in puddles, an action that reflected her youthful spirit.
In the kitchen, she found solace in baking. Pamela learned to bake when she was young from her aunt, and as she grew older, she would share her heart through the delightful cakes she crafted. She also enjoyed listening to the Bible on audio books, which provided her moments of reflection and inspiration.
Pamela leaves behind a loving family who will carry forth her legacy of joy and creativity. She is survived by her daughter, Rosealy Cook, and her son, Kristopher Spears. Her cherished stepmother, Candy Kelso, along with her siblings Janine Wilcox, Coleen (Shad) Smith, Robert (Jessica) Harlow, and Katerina Pickerell, will miss her dearly. Additionally, her connection to her nieces—Shelby, Kiara, Nevaeh, and Anishia—and her nephews—Charles, Christofer, Jason, Scott, DJ, and Michael—is a testament to the loving relationships she nurtured throughout her life. Her great-nieces, Elizabeth and Lisinda, as well as her great-nephew Josiah, will always remember her vibrant spirit.
Pamela was preceded in death by her father, Jeremy Shumaker; her mother, Linda Lehman; and her stepfather, Ronald Lehman. Their memories will forever intertwine with hers as she embraces them in eternal rest.
