Nancy Joy Lawrence

Nancy Joy Poynter Lawrence, 74, of Indianapolis. She was born September 18, 1948 and died June 28, 2023; the daughter of Mary Frances McAvoy and Gilbert Poynter. She attended Arsenal Technical High School. Nancy married Jerry Lawrence, Jr. on April 7, 1972. She worked for accurate Auto Supply and Turtle Creek Nursing Home in the 70’s before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. Through the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s she was the Executive Vice President of her husband’s carpet installation company. She also enjoyed doing crafts, including stained glass, macrame and knitting. Nancy loved animals and donated to several charities during her lifetime, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, ASPCA, and several charities that help the homeless. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lawrence, Jr., and three children, Tommy Colyer III; from a previous marriage; Russell Lawrence (Janet Lawrence) and Jeffery Lawrence (Katie Taylor). Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services.
