With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Michelle Lynn Edwards, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 12, 2026. While her departure leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved her, her legacy of compassion, faith, and service will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.

Michelle was born on January 23, 1974, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Valerie Williams and George Hughes. Raised on the eastside of Indianapolis, she grew into a woman whose life would become a testament to love, resilience, and selfless service. Her heart was large enough to make room for everyone, and she spent her life ensuring others felt cared for, valued, and loved.

A proud graduate of George Washington High School, Class of 1993, Michelle continued her education through the J. Everett Light Career Center. Through her dedication and determination, she earned a scholarship from Boeing Engineering to pursue her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree at Ivy Tech Community College. What began as a dream soon became a lifelong calling.

Michelle began her healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Riley Hospital and went on to dedicate more than 30 years to the nursing profession. She possessed a rare gift for comforting people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Patients, coworkers, family members, and friends alike experienced her kindness, patience, and unwavering compassion. She treated every person with dignity and respect, believing that everyone deserved to be cared for and loved.

On July 11, 1997, Michelle began a new chapter of life by marrying Benjamin Edwards, Sr. and was blessed with three beautiful children who became the greatest joy of her life. As a mother, she poured her heart into nurturing, guiding, and supporting Benji, Chloe, and Aerial. She celebrated their accomplishments, encouraged them through challenges, and loved them unconditionally. Her children were her pride and purpose. The love she shared with them will remain a lasting part of her legacy for generations to come.

Faith served as the foundation of Michelle's life. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23:6: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” During her childhood, she attended Refuge Temple Revival Center under the leadership of the late Bishop Paul C. Otis. Later, she became a faithful attendee of Church of Glory under the leadership of Pastor Donald Edwards, Jr.. Her relationship with God guided her decisions, strengthened her during difficult times, and inspired her lifelong commitment to serving others. She believed deeply in the power of prayer, the importance of faith, and the responsibility to love others as God loves us.

Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Stacey Williams. Michelle is survived by her beloved children: Benjamin Edwards, Jr. “Benji” (Brittany), Chloe Edwards (Carrington), Aerial Edwards, grandson: Benjamin Edwards III, siblings: Shawn Williams, Dianna Maynard, Mariam Sylvia, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, friends, coworkers, church family, and loved ones whose lives were forever changed by her kindness and love.

Michelle's legacy cannot be measured by titles, possessions, or achievements. Instead, it is found in the lives she touched, the people she cared for, the prayers she prayed, and the love she gave so freely. She showed us what it means to serve others without expectation, to love without conditions, and to remain faithful through every season of life.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Michelle's work here is complete. She has exchanged her earthly labor for eternal rest, her burdens for peace, and her faith for sight. We rejoice knowing that she now rests safely in the arms of her Savior.

Michelle’s Memorial Service will occur Saturday, June 27th, 2026, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Agape Apostolic Faith Assembly, 6240 Georgetown Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
