Michael Allen Sanford, 41, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away on April 7, 2026. Born on September 1, 1984, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the beloved son of Kristy and Douglas Trumpey.
Michael was a proud graduate of Warren Central High School, Class of 2002. He went on to build a successful career in the garage door service and sales industry, where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication to those he served.
Michael found happiness in the things he loved—cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, diving into the world of Pokémon, enjoying video games, books, and movies. More than anything, he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. Known affectionately as a “gentle giant,” Michael possessed a rare kindness and sincerity—he never had an unkind word to say about anyone. His easygoing humor, warm heart, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Sandy Jacobia, and his cousin, Kassie Benson.
Michael leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his mother and stepfather, Kristy and Douglas Trumpey; his father, Mark Sanford; his stepdaughter, Alyssia Leath; his brothers, Jeffrey Sanford (Tiffany), Dillon Trumpey, and Tyler Trumpey; his sister, Alexis Trumpey; his nephew, Jedrek Sanford; his niece, Taylor Sanford; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends whose lives he touched. Each of them carries a piece of Michael with them and will continue to honor his memory through the love he gave so freely.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Michael’s life will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46226. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Random Acts, reflecting Michael’s quiet kindness and the love he shared with others.
