It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father, Michael Lee Bacher, on March 23, 2026. Born on December 29, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael attended and graduated from George Washington High School in 1966. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country valiantly in the Vietnam War. While stationed in Vietnam, he was a shooter with the 7-8 Artillery, Third Platoon. Michael was a proud Army veteran, and it was his honor to have served his country. After his discharge from the military, Michael went to work for Geiger and Peters, a steel fabrication company. He worked there as both a supervisor and a dedicated employee for 47 years.

Michael was an honorable and dependable "stand-up" type of man who could be counted on to take care of those around him. Although typically quiet, when the need arose, he would strongly voice his opinion when he noticed something was wrong and would work to correct the situation. This ability to fix things was demonstrated in many different areas. Michael could work on and repair automobiles, as well as take care of all the things around the house that needed maintenance or repair. But he wasn't just good with mechanical things, Michael also was quite talented at working with electronics and on computers. During his leisure time, he loved to go bowling and played on a bowling team in his younger days. He also enjoyed watching a good movie, and his favorite movie stars were Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. Coincidentally, when Michael was in the hospital during his final days, a family member mentioned that Chuck Norris had just passed away, and Michael in his matter-of-fact way said, "I guess I'll be meeting him soon!"

He was preceded in death by his wife, Andi; his parents, Ada and George; his sister, Margaret; his ex-wife, Patricia; his daughter, Melissa; and his stepdaughter, Angela.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Cindy) Bacher; daughter, Amber (Jhonny) Rodriguez; and stepson, John. Michael is also survived by his grandchildren: Kristin Lynn, Christina, Billy (Jessica), Skyler, Justin, Madison, and Jonathan; his brothers: George (Debra) Bacher, Chester (Elia E. Montanez), and John (Denise) Bacher; his brother-in-law, Tony (Nancy); and many great-grandchildren.
