Max Duane Homler, born on April 30th, 1939, to Perry and Erma Homler, peacefully departed due to a recent illness, to be with our Lord and Savior on December 22nd, 2023. Max left a legacy that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Max is a United States Air Force veteran. He retired from General Motors after 38 years. He loved working for Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he was going on his 20th year. Max was a devoted car enthusiast and NASCAR fan, Max's love for automobiles, particularly antique cars, was undeniable. His 1954 Kaiser Manhattan stood as his pride and joy in the world of classic automobiles. Max's friendliness and sense of humor endeared him to all who crossed his path.
Max loved his family, and his great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. His dedication to family extended as he embraced the role of a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Max loved going to the Keenager program at Grace Baptist Church. Max had a sweet tooth for Reese's Cups and a fondness for Dr. Pepper. Max's love for sports, especially the Colts, reflected his passion for the games that brought people together.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Erma Homler, and his brother, Melvin King; special cousins Harry Hall and Lois Hall Ehl, along with nephews Monty and Mike King.
Max is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diann (Blackford) Homler; He will be remembered by his children, Jennifer Lynn Csire (Scott) and Scott Duane Homler (Leigh); grandchildren: Andrew Csire (Cortney), Josh Csire (Hanna), and Kaitlin Murphy (Ben); great-grandchildren, Lucus Csire, Brynlee Csire, and Judah Csire, brought immeasurable joy to his later years.
Max leaves behind special cousins Alice Bartley (Marlin), Shirley Weedling (Jeff), Sherry Brown (Darrell), and Nancy Avila, as well as nieces Melanie Whitaker and Missy Jackson (Kirby). Additionally, he is survived by other nieces, nephews, and close friends at Grace Baptist.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace Baptist Church or the Daleville American Legion.
Services will be Friday, December, 29th, 2023 at Legacy Funeral Home. Visitation from 11am to 1pm, with the service beginning at 1pm.
Max Duane Homler's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in his laughter, kindness, and love. May he rest in eternal peace.
