Mary Alice Toppin

Mary A. Toppin, 94, of Anderson, passed away on July 15, 2022.  She was born in Elwood, Indiana.  Mary had worked at East Side Drugstore for the last five owners of the store, and had retired from there.  She was a member of Fall Creek Christian Church in Pendleton.  Mary had previously attended Bethany Christian Church, where she had met her husband, Charles.  They were married for 66 years.  Mary was strong in her faith and loved her church family.  She loved to cook and was known for her big Sunday and holiday dinners.  Mary also loved helping others.  Family was always important to her.

She is survived by her children, Diana Watson of Anderson and Larry Toppin (Michelle) of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Randy Watson, Ray Watson, Charles Toppin (Sara), and Sam Toppin (Amber); great grandchildren, Dylan Watson, Matthew Watson (Desiree), Shyanne Watson, James Watson, Gabe Toppin, Jody Toppin, Riley Toppin, Daniel Toppin, Rachel Toppin, and Charles J. Toppin; great great granddaughter, Alana Watson; brother, Fred Long (Pat) of Anderson; cousin, Ben Kleyla; along with several nieces and nephews.  A special thank you to Tom Wiles and Skip Mitchell and to her caregivers, Tammy and Noel.

Preceding Mary in death was her husband, Charles; parents, Dewey and Dora Long; brothers, Robert Long, Donald Long, Richard Long; sister, Carolyn McCafferty; and a daughter-in-law, Marsha Toppin.

There will be a graveside service at 11am on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.  Pastor Tom Wiles will be officiating.  Cremation Arrangements provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Anderson.
