Martha Jane Helpling

Martha Jane Helpling, age 81, of Anderson, passed away at her home on July 20, 2023. She was
born on December 4, 1941, to Osmond and Nellie (Tuerff) Helpling, who preceded her in death.

Martha was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was feisty, strong-willed, and
determined in everything she did. She kept up with the latest fashion trends and loved to shop.
She had a strong sweet tooth, loved dogs (sometimes more than people), and was an avid
puzzler. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing, along with spending time with her family.
She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Martha is survived by her siblings, Mary Ann Douglas and James Helpling (Brenda); her niece
Terri Bilbrey (Junior), who was more like a younger sister and later her caretaker; her great
nieces, Jessica Ulm and Annie Baker (Stephen); and her great, great nieces Kinley and Sadie
Baker, who lovingly referred to her as GaGa (great aunt, great aunt). Martha is also survived by
many more beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Osmond Helpling Jr., and Joseph Helpling; and her
longtime companion, Pat King.
