Marilyn Nicholson Masters of Anderson, Indiana, went to her eternal home on August 25, 2025 at the age of 95. She was born on October 3, 1929 in Anderson, Indiana to the late William and Margaret Nicholson.
Marilyn was beloved by all, especially her immediate and extended family. Family was very important to her, and she stayed in touch with many family members and friends. She enjoyed outings and holidays with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took care of her parents for many years, who had built a house two lots away. She had a group of ladies from high school that she met weekly for lunch into her later years.
Marilyn graduated from Anderson High School in 1947, and married Jack H Masters on January 10, 1953. They had 4 boys - Jack (Wayne), Donald, Eric and Daniel. Marilyn was a dedicated employee of Delco-Remy / General Motors, where she worked for 42 years. She was a hard worker and took pride in her career. Raising four children and working full-time kept her very busy. The family enjoyed various trips around the US. Jack passed away 8-26-1976, so much of Marilyn’s life was spent as a widow. She lived independently in her home until age 92, then at Keystone Woods assisted living until age 95, and later at Bethany Pointe nursing facility. Everyone who met her described her as sweet, honest, and caring, and she rarely complained.
Fifth St United Methodist Church was her church home and extended family. Marilyn was grounded in faith and knew she would be rejoined with her family who had passed before her. She attended Bible study, and volunteered at the food pantry at Fifth Street Methodist and the Salvation Army.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening and was very good at knitting. She had two trips that were highlights for her – a trip to Alaska and a European trip, including visits with some Masters relatives in England and a long-time pen pal in Belgium. She also traveled to Hawaii and other trips with family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her sons Eric (Kristi) Masters, Wayne Masters, Daniel (Evelyn) Masters and Anette Masters (widow of Don Masters). She has 6 grandchildren – Shai (Zachary) Kinch, Samantha & Cody Masters, Jeremy & Danica Masters, Chris Sanchez. She was blessed to meet and love her 3 great grandchildren – Tinley, Emryn & Payson Kinch. Other relatives include sister Linda (Nicholson) Parisi, stepson Tracy Masters, sister-in-law Fulvia Franco, nieces Jennifer (Drew) Billington, JoLynn Elbert, Lori Shaw, Kim Smith, Nancy Anderson, Gail Kurtz and many great nieces / nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Jack Masters, brother William (Bill) Nicholson, sister Wanda (Nicholson) Anderson, son Don Masters, brother-in-laws Dwight Anderson and Joe Parisi.
