"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." — John 14:1-4
Margaret Ann Pettigrew was born on January 11, 1950, to the late Armenthia Thomas and the late Clarence Green. She was later raised by her stepfather Richard Thomas, II. On December 7, 2025, Margaret passed from her worldly cares and put on her heavenly robe, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are confident that she arose into the loving arms of God.
Margaret was a devoted member of Zion Pentecostal Church under the spiritual guidance of Pastor Boggs, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She graduated from Elizabeth Town High School in 1968 and soon after moved to the Midwest, where she began a new chapter of her life. There, she married John Pettigrew, and together they raised two beautiful children.
Margaret was a dedicated healthcare professional who built a distinguished career in medical record administration. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Administration with Distinction from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis in 1984. She became a Registered Record Administrator through the American Medical Record Association in 1984, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in her field. Her leadership and expertise were recognized when she served as President of the Central Indiana Medical Record Association in 1991, where she made lasting contributions to the profession.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, who were the light of her life: Evan (Jacquita) Pettigrew and Jason, Sr. (Dr. Nataki) Pettigrew.
Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jasmine Barnes, Sierra Pettigrew (Za'Myah Glover, EryKah Glover, and Eric Jr.), Tia Pettigrew (Rylan Keith and Reece Keith), Tyra Pettigrew (Aayden Asiedu), Jazmyne Carter (Jamie Illescas and Jordyn Childs), Javon Pettigrew (Jiovanni Pettigrew, Jaisen Kelly, Jade Kelly, and Emory Wilson), Jada Pettigrew, Jacobi Pettigrew (Cyaire Knighten), Jourdyn Wynn, Ashley Pettigrew, Deja Pettigrew, and Jason Pettigrew, II.
Margaret also leaves to cherish her memory her dear sister, Sheryl Clemmons; her brothers Carl Green (Pauline), Richard Thomas (Charmaine), Charles Green, and Clarence Green, Jr. as well as a host of family and friends, including her dear nephew Dacus Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, step-father, and her brother, Kenny Thomas.
Margaret had a zest for life and found joy in the simple pleasures around her. She loved spending time with family, watching movies, cooking delicious meals, and treasure hunting at thrift shops. She was known for her creative spirit, constantly remodeling her home with love and care. Each holiday brought a new theme to her home, but Christmas held a special place in her heart. Margaret was an avid fan of daytime soap operas and never missed an episode of Oprah Winfrey. Above all, her sons and their families were the center of her heart, and she poured her love into them every day.

"We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."
— 2 Corinthians 5:8
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Margaret has been called home to eternal rest. We rejoice knowing she now rests with our Heavenly Father. We celebrate a life well-lived, a woman who touched countless hearts with her warmth, devotion, and love. As we remember her, we hold fast to God's promise in Revelation 21:4: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Margaret's memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
