Macel Lorraine Holaday

Macel Lorraine Holaday, age 87, of Anderson, passed away on September 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 12, 1936, and reared by her grandparents John and Lula Mabbitt.

Macel was a well-known musician around Madison County, playing the piano and organ at the Spa Restaurant, Elks Lodge, and Shrine Club. She worked at the Madison County Federal Credit Union for many years and was well known for her exceptional customer service. She was an Eastern Star Member. Her favorite things to do were play music and spend time with her family. She was truly one-of-a-kind. She was vibrant, never knowing a stranger. She was the best friend anyone could ever have, truly beautiful inside and out. There are not enough words to describe Macel Holaday and all that she was to the people in her life. She will be remembered, missed, and most importantly, loved always.

Macel is survived by her daughter Pamela J. Ashby (Vicki) of Alexandria, IN; grandson Jeremiah J. Holaday (Mishawn) of Round Rock, TX; grandson James C. Holaday of Fort Collins, CO; brother Larry Mabbitt (Belinda) of Chesterfield, IN; sister-in-law Joanne Mabbitt; daughter-in-law Lena Holaday; great-grandchildren Khailo Holaday, Daveyon Finch, and Michajah Finish; nieces and nephews; and an unrealistic number of friends who loved her dearly.  

She is preceded in death by her parents Frances and Velma Mabbitt; grandparents John and Lula Mabbitt; sister Sonja J. Ohler, son Douglas L. Ashby, son Mark C. Holaday, son Charles N. Holaday, infant brother Ronald, grandson Korey Fowler, and special friend Jonesy.

A visitation will be held on Thursday September 28, 2023, from 12pm-2pm with a funeral service beginning at 2pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
