Lucinda Roach

April 16, 1950 — March 24, 2024

Lucinda “Cindy” Ellen Roach of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 73.

Cindy was born April 16, 1950, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Ed and Joy Beane. She would laugh and tell stories about growing up next to her grandparents’ farm and getting into mischief with her sisters. She ate more berries than she took home and tried unsuccessfully to stay out of trouble with her grandma. Cindy was married in 1972 and gave birth to her only child, Dorinda “Dori” Rae Miller in 1973. As a military wife, Cindy lived in multiple places over her lifetime, spending most of her years in Michigan and Indiana. After meeting her life partner, Vince Neu, she enjoyed living in the quad cities area in Illinois and Iowa until she and Vince moved back to Indiana to be close to her family.

Cindy loved birds. She could watch them for hours and had several pet birds over the years. She took pride in teaching some of the birds to talk. Spike, a parrot, disciplined the family dog by telling her to go to bed, and Weirdo, a parakeet, aggressively asked for kisses.

Cindy spent a lot of her free time doing crafts. Painting birdhouses was her favorite pastime, combining her love of birds with her love of crafting. She also enjoyed reading romance novels, watching all the Hallmark movies, and competing in game shows from her couch. Her guilty pleasure was reading the tabloids to keep up on the celebrity gossip.

What Cindy loved most of all was her family, and she would have sacrificed everything for anyone in her family. She told everyone her daughter was her biggest accomplishment and her pride and joy. They would spend hours talking and laughing. Cindy also played an important role in the lives of her grandchildren. She cared for them on most weekdays, chaperoned field trips, and was their personal chauffer for many activities. Cindy was a devoted mother to Dori, caring sister to Becki and Vicki, a doting Grandma to Zack and Julia, and an adoring GiGi to her great grandchildren, Weston, Easton, and Dawson. Cindy loved fiercely and generously and was everyone’s cheerleader. No one celebrated the success of her family members more than Cindy.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Joy Beane; her life partner, Vince Neu; and her sister, Becki Hughes. She is survived by her sister, Vicki Lafferty (Chuck); her daughter, Dori Miller (John); her grandchildren, Zack Miller (Callie) and Julia Miller; and her great grandchildren, Weston, Easton, and Dawson.

Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 pm on Cindy’s birthday, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the home of John and Dori Miller. The family asks that you wear something pink (Cindy’s favorite color), or other Spring colors.
