Lois Nichols

September 10, 1927 — May 26, 2025

Anderson, IN

Lois would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call on May 26, 2025, a sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-up bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time.

Lois was born in Punxsutawney, PA to Alfred and Beatrice Kirkpatrick on September 10, 1927. South Bethlehem was home until her marriage to DuWayne E. Nichols on December 26, 1948.

DuWayne (Buck) and Lois are survived by son, Tice D. Nichols and wife Lala; daughter Tara N. Bubenzer and husband Guane; grandson Kevin Bubenzer; great grandson Scott Bubenzer; also surviving are 5 stepchildren and 6 step grandchildren. Buck has been deceased since November 4, 1987.

In October 2012, Lois married George Chapel and resided in Butler, PA until 2016. At that time, they moved to their home in Tavares, Florida. George died in December of 2020 in Florida.

She moved to Anderson in April 2021 where her daughter and family live. She had many good days at Primrose Assisted Living. Lois enjoyed life to the fullest. Through the years she enjoyed traveling across the USA, taking international trips and cruises. Her family and friends were the center of her life. Lois kept her devotion to Christ to her last breath.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday June 8, at 3:30 at Primrose Assisted Living in Anderson IN.

A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania in September at Lawn Haven Cemetery where she will be buried by her deceased husband Buck.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the caring staff at Primrose Assisted Living and Paradigm Hospice.
