Anderson

Lisa Anne Singleton, 58, of Anderson, IN, passed away after a long battle with cancer in the early morning of November 18, 2023. Her irrepressible spirit came into the world on August 21, 1965, in Springfield, Ohio, to Fred Singleton and Shirley (Beamish) Schutte.  Her passion for adventure began when she joined the U.S Marine Corp shortly after high school.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling and dreaming of new places to go.

Now, having finally reached the ultimate destination, we can remember the many loves and lives of Lisa.  She lived out loud, wore her heart on her sleeve, and could not be pinned down, like a cloud upon the sand.  Lisa loved to laugh and sing, loved Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, and immensely enjoyed gardening, camping, and crafting.  She was a proud member of the Anderson community that she called home and resided for much of her life.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Schutte.  She is survived by her children, Robert Allen, Cecily Allen (Aron Kerkhof), and Colin Gorman; her grandson, Jonathan Kerkhof; her father, Fred Singleton; her sisters, Andrea Ober (Joseph) and Heather Smith (Gary Blaine); her nieces and nephews, Zack Allen, Jacob Smith, Danielle Smith, Sam Ober, and Max Ober.

As many know, our mother’s extended illness was extremely difficult for our family. We are incredibly grateful to her nephew, our cousin, Zach Allen, for caring for her full-time in her final days, as well as friends, neighbors, and the community she loved so much that were able to offer support.

As we celebrate the life of this beautiful, brave woman, we have one last request.  We ask that in lieu of any flowers or gifts please consider donating to her surviving children directly to help with expenses or making a contribution in her honor to: Willow Place in Anderson, IN.
