Leroy “Lee” Erwin Houk, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Lee was born on November 20, 1937, in Muncie, Indiana, to Ernest A. Houk and Mary (Parkes) Houk. He lived a full and adventurous life marked by hard work, service, and a love for family and friends.

Lee proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Lee & Marti shared 56 wonderful years of marriage and built a life filled with memories and adventure. Over the years, he owned and operated a gutter, roofing, and siding business, farmed in Woodstone, Kansas, and later returned to Indiana where he worked for Hamilton Center modifying wheelchairs.

A skilled craftsman and mechanic, Lee spent more than five decades creating custom automotive upholstery, a trade he loved and excelled at. He was also an avid motorcycle racer and lifelong enthusiast of automobiles and motorsports.

Lee enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and hanging with his old-time friends he called “The Gang”, sharing stories from his many experiences. Whether telling tales of his adventures, working with his hands, or spending time with loved ones, he brought laughter, wisdom, and a strong spirit to those around him.

Lee was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha “Marti” Houk; his son, David Anthony “Tony” Houk; his father, Ernest A. Houk; his mother, Mary (Parks) Houk; his brothers, Darrel Houk and Ernest “Ernie” Houk Jr.; and his sisters, Priscilla Duncan and Carolyn Upchurch.
