Kent Kistler passed away on February 3, 2026, after a brief illness. He left this world far too soon, but not before filling it with a whole lot of love, kindness, and countless memories that will be held close forever.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Sharon and Eddie Kistler, and his faithful dog, Duke. He is survived by his wife, Judy Kistler, the love of his life and his steady partner through every season. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, laughter, and care. He also leaves behind his children, who meant the world to him and were his pride and joy: Jason and Krista Kistler, Cory and Amanda Kistler, and Jenna and Jordan Stanley.
Kent’s heart truly belonged to his grandbabies. He cherished Grace, Ella, and Hudson Kistler; Madison and Kaleb Kistler; Emily Stanley; and Layla and Ava Sherman with a love that was easy to see and impossible to measure. Being “Paps” was his favorite role, and he embraced it fully, pouring joy into every smile, every story, and every moment spent together. His dog Wrangler remains close by, still watching the door, waiting for his favorite person.
Kent was kind, gentle, and always looking out for the people around him. If someone needed help, comfort, or support, Kent was already there. He loved deeply, quietly, and without hesitation, never asking for recognition, only wanting to make life better for those he cared about. Even if every now and again he did find a dirty tissue in his pocket, or one of his grandbabies accidentally pulled off a toe.
He loved his Jeep, NASCAR Sundays, fishing (without catching anything), and the open road. He loved the simple peace of going somewhere with no rush and no pressure, just the ride and the moment. Occasionally those rides would lead him to a Taco Bell drive thru, or he’d cruise through Elwood on his way to Anderson (or so his daughter believes). But above everything else, Kent loved his family with his whole heart. Kent was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a “Paps” who loved bigger than words can hold. The world feels a little less steady without him in it, but the love he gave continues to live on through every life he touched.
To know Kent was to be truly blessed. To love him was everything.
