Kay A. Hughes

Kay A Hughes, 88, passed away November 16th, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Heaven gained an angel, a true angel in every sense of the word. Kay was born November 12th, 1937 to George N. King and Carrie H. King (Haven).

A kind sweet soul, known by many as Mama Kay. She retired from Pendleton Heights High School as a custodian. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. She married Jesse Hughes Sr. on August 20th, 1955. They had three children.

Kay was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse; daughter, Terri; son, Jesse; Jr.; sisters, Vivan Pitts and Georgia Fogt; brother George W. King.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Glen Hughes; granddaughters Mandi Cox, Kera Hughes (Dustin Gore), Karlee Helvie(Quinnten); sister-in-law Gladys Rollins; long time friend Ella May Fridley and many other close friends and family.

A visitation will take place Monday, November 24th, 2025 at 504 W. 9th St. Anderson, IN from 5pm to 8pm. A service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th at Columbus Ave Church of Christ at 11 am with burial following at Anderson Memorial Park. Legacy is honored to care for Kay and her family during this time.

Mama Kay leaves behind a legacy of deep love and gentle strength. Her heart held room for everyone, and her grace lifted us all.
