Kathy Jo Retherford

Kathy Jo Retherford, 67, passed away on August 2, 2024, in Anderson, IN. Kathy was born on December 15, 1956, in Noblesville, IN to John Julius Gillespie and Shirley Joan (Lane) Retherford. Kathy was dedicated to her role in customer service through her twenty-five-year career at Jim’s Formal Wear.

Kathy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid cat lover and enjoyed spending time watching her favorite television shows. She also enjoyed tending to her garden, growing beautiful flowers and delicious tomatoes. Kathy had a natural gift with words and expressed herself through her poetry.

Her parents, mentioned above, preceded her in passing. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Scott Retherford; daughter, Brittiany John Retherford; and granddaughter, Madison Claire Chastain. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Murphy; Karen’s life partner, Sherry Thompson; niece, Amanda King; nephew, Michael Murphy; brother-in-law, Barry Retherford; and sister-in-law; Teresa Retherford.

Her warm presence and creative spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Kathy's memory will live on through the love she shared with her family and the words she left behind.
