Karol Dee Streif

Karol D Streif, age 69, of Indianapolis, IN entered her eternal rest on Friday April 28, 2023.  She was the daughter of the late Benjamin N. and Roberta L. (Strough) Lemmons.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Benjamin M. Streif, her sister Peggy J. Dodson, and her brother Terry W. Furguson.

Karol grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and spent most of her adult life there.  She attended Arsenal Tech High School and began her career as an office file clerk.  Over the years, she availed herself to educational classes in her field and eventually became a skilled IT employee of Conseco. After many years with them, she retired in 2015.

Karol loved to crochet.  Her afghans keep many friends and family members toasty and warm.  She loved quilting, a paper filigree craft, cross stitching, and reading.  Most of all she loved cats.  She adopted two as newborns, and she always put food out for the homeless cats in her neighborhood. After she retired, she made a bird sanctuary in her enclosed patio and spent many happy hours watching them.

Karol is survived by her daughter Machelle “Shelly” L. Umsteadt, sister Karen L. Couch (Steve), four grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
