Karen Sue Mewton

Karen Sue Mewton (Whited) “Sue Sue”, 70, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at her home. She is one of eight children born to the late William Ernest Whited and Helen Marie Whited (Tarasuk).

Karen was a graduate of Ben Davis High School. She worked as a data entry operator for Quik-Pak and cleaned office buildings.

She truly lived her life to the fullest. You could catch her chatting with the neighbors, hanging out with the family and grandkids. Some may say she was sassy and straight forward. She was the type of person that if you didn’t want to hear to the truth, then you probably should not ask. The family couldn’t wait to hear what she would say about a situation. That’s why they all adored and loved her so much. She told it how it was.

Left to cherish her memory is her 2 daughters; Sheryl (Jason) Mewton-Gilbert, Angela (Greg) Mewton-Keller, significant other; Chuck Woolbright, grandchildren; Jodi Williams, Kevin Williams, Larry Williams, Latarra (Richard) Gilbert-Simmons, Courtney Gilbert, Emery Gilbert, Austin Gilbert, Devin Gilbert, Sara Gilbert, and Jalynn Gilbert, 4 great grandchildren; Auralius Simmons, Zeava Simmons, Stanley Jr. Monson, and Sanji Monson, siblings; Mike Whited, Shelley Howard (Whited), James Whited, Kellie Whited, sister in law; Debbie Bracken Whited, and brother in law; Bill Wycoff.

Karen was proceeded in death by her sister; Sharon Wycoff, brothers; Richard Whited and Thomas Whited, and her husband Richard Mewton.

Whether you knew Karen as mom, Sue-Sue or Granny Sue, you know her favorite phrase to say was “Just Google it”.

A Celebration of Life for Karen Mewton will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services - Indianapolis, 1604 W. Morris Street.
